Telespazio has renewed the contracts for the satellite capacity of two transponders on satellites managed by Eutelsat Communications for the transmission of RAI television and radio channels.
Telespazio is to take part at SAT EXPO 2010, the international exhibition of services, space applications and integrated telecommunications, which will take place at the Nuova Fiera di Roma (Rome’s exhibition centre) from 4 to 6 February.
e-GEOS
(a Telespazio/Italian Space Agency
company), in collaboration with
the European Union Satellite Centre
(EUSC), is providing a series of
satellite maps of road conditions
in the Haitian areas of Léogâne
and Jacmel. These areas have been
awaiting aid operations for some
time due to poor road conditions
and inefficient co-ordination of
relief following the disaster.
Within
a few hours of the earthquake that
devastated Haiti, e-GEOS (a Telespazio/Italian
Space Agency company) went into
action to provide the United Nations,
the Spanish Red Cross and the Italian
ministries of Foreign Affairs (crisis
units) and Defence a series
of georeferenced satellite maps
of the affected areas to assist
the relief and humanitarian aid
operations.
