LIMES (Land and Sea Integrated
Monitoring for Environment and Security)
is an Integrated Project co-funded by
the European Commission within the 6°
Framework Programme – Aeronautics&Space/GMES
Security.Started on December 1st 2006,
will end in 2010 and involves around 50
Partners.
The LIMES Project goal is to supplement the GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) program by applying innovative solutions based on Earth Observation systems and satellite Communication and Positioning technologies:

Maritime Surveillance: monitoring of vessel and cargo movements
for maritime safety, policing and border
security over coastal and open ocean
areas and Non-Eu waters. |

Land and Infrastructure Security: include Land Border Monitoring,
Critical Infrastructure Surveillance,
support to Event Planning and to Non
Proliferation Treaty (NPT) monitoring.

Humanitarian Relief and Reconstruction: improvement and
extension of the existing services that
cover the whole crisis cycle: Disaster
Preparedness, Operational Support &
Reconstruction |
Telespazio
is appointed as Project Coordinator and is responsible
for several Work Packages. Furthermore the
company deeply involved in services and
products development, especially in the
Earth Observation related fields.
