MolSat, a new satellite network for the Molise Civil Protection

Civil Protection of the Molise Region, in Italy, will soon have its own broadband satellite network which will guarantee communication in case of emergency or natural disaster. The network, called MolSat, will be based on the Telespazio broadband satellite SkyplexNet platform.
The network configuration includes a primary receiver-transmitter centre within the Operations Room and a special mobile satellite communication unit, transportable by helicopter and able to respond to potential emergency situations also in impervious areas and in zones difficult to reach.

The system will be inter-operable with the EmercomSat network of the Civil Protection of Piemonte, sharing the satellite capabilities, and with the Civil Protection of other regions that already utilize the standard SkyplexNet.
