SAVION Network Testing has started

On the 11th of May 2006, at Riva del Garda (Italy), the
testing campaign for the SAVION (Satellite Autoconfigurable
Voice Image data Overlay Network) telecommunication network
for Emergency and Security has started.
The new system,
sponsored by the European Community and financed by the
Italian and the Israeli Foreign Affair ministries, is implemented
with the collaboration of Telespazio, the Israeli company
Maxtech and the Tor Vergata University of Rome. |
The new
system will guarantee communications between emergency teams
employed in critical situations, with the possibility of
communicating with command and control centres.
The system
key elements are the absence of fixed infrastructures, the
possibility of interfacing with existing networks, the possibility
of transmitting images, data and voice in a broadband.
These
tests, carried out at Riva del Garda, were performed thanks
to the collaboration of the Fire Brigade Federation of the
Trentino (the Trento Region) and of the Fire-Fighters Services.
