Telespazio participates at the 47th International Paris Air Show

Telespazio will participate at the 47th International Paris Air Show, at Le Bourget Airport in Paris from 18 to 24 June 2007. The company will showcase its activities in Homeland Security, Earth Observation, Infomobility and space services in the pavilions of both the Finmeccanica group and that of the new Space Alliance between Finmeccanica and Thales. Moreover, emphasis will be placed on Telespazio’s role within such large programmes as COSMO-SkyMed, GMES and Galileo.

In the Finmeccanica pavilion, Telespazio will be in the Homeland Security area, with its own Earth Observation services and the Chimera satellite platform, which was developed to manage the operations of rescue teams in emergencies. Furthermore, in the Space area, Telespazio will present its studies on novel spaceways to the Moon and the activities of its MARS subsidiary, a centre of excellence in the research and development of innovative services within ESA and ASI space programmes.
In the pavilion entirely devoted to the Space Alliance between Finmeccanica and Thales, Telespazio will present its own activities in the fields of Earth Observation, networks for innovative broadband telecommunications, navigation and positioning and in the sector of space operations. Moreover, the company will illustrate its activities in the Defence, Environment, Space Exploration sectors and in the development of Galileo, the European satellite navigation programme.
Specifically, Telespazio will present its broadband services on trains, the M-Trade project to monitor the transport of hazardous materials, the activities related to the Galileo Test Range. In the area of Defence & Security a demo will describe the Emercomsat service for emergency communications and the helicopter-transportable vehicle, manufactured for the Civil Protection department, will be shown. In addition, within the European GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) programme, a description will be provided of the LIMES and MARISS projects, coordinated by Telespazio. The e-health service devoted to defence implemented through the SkyplexNet satellite platform, will be introduced, in cooperation with Telbios.
In the environment field, Telespazio will display in Paris some of the applications to be developed with COSMO-SkyMed, the Earth observation constellation of the Italian Space Agency and the Ministry of Defence. The first satellite of the constellation was launched successfully on 7 June 2007, and is managed in orbit by the Fucino Space Centre. Lastly, in the Exploration & Orbital Infrastructure field, the focus will be on the role of Telespazio in Altea and Agile, the scientific missions of ESA and ASI.
